What to know before you decide
Switching mid-year needs a clear division of work
You can change accountant during a tax year, but identify who completes each outstanding return and whether work has already been charged. Review termination terms and outstanding invoices with your current adviser. A handover should reduce duplication, not leave both firms assuming the other will file a deadline-sensitive return.
Tell us about urgent issues before the transfer
HMRC deadlines continue while records move between accountants. Share notices, enquiry letters and pension election dates early. With your authority, we can request relevant information and agree what can proceed before all historic records arrive. We do not promise every transfer will be completed in a fixed number of hours; speed depends on records and the previous adviser.
