Problems we fix for dentists
- "Payments on account as a self-employed associate catch me out."
- "I don't understand my NHS Pension superannuation."
- "We've had a UDA clawback."
- "Lab bills make my profit hard to track."
- "I'm not sure whether my cosmetic dentistry needs VAT."

What it's costing you
Leaving it unfixed is rarely free
- Overpaid tax
- Unclaimed expenses and wrong tax codes mean paying more than you owe, year after year.
- HMRC penalties and interest
- Late returns attract automatic penalties, plus interest on tax paid late.
- Lost evenings
- Hours spent on forms, invoices and spreadsheets after a long shift.
General examples, your position depends on your own figures.

Your questions answered
How much does an associate dentist pay for an accountant?
A self-employed associate with tidy records can start from £45 a month + VAT for accounts, Self Assessment and NHS Pension certificate figures. Extra income sources, MTD quarterly updates or catch-up work increase the fee, and we tell you before anything changes.
Want us to check this for you? Get a free review →What's included in a dental accounting package?
Every package includes the core filings for your structure, deadline reminders and tax advice by email. Associates get accounts and Self Assessment; companies get statutory accounts, CT600 and Companies House filings; practices get partner returns and an annual tax plan.
Want us to check this for you? Get a free review →What affects the price of dental accountancy?
Turnover, the number of associates and staff, the mix of NHS and private work, how your bookkeeping is kept and the number of sites. Records sent in good software cost less to process than a box of receipts.
Want us to check this for you? Get a free review →Are accountancy fees tax deductible for dentists?
Fees for preparing your business accounts are generally an allowable business expense. Fees for personal tax advice unrelated to the business are not. We show the split on your invoice.
Want us to check this for you? Get a free review →Is a specialist dental accountant worth the cost?
It is worth it when your affairs involve NHS pension certificates, UDA contract income, associate agreements or practice finance. A specialist knows where these figures come from and which deadlines matter, which saves you time and avoids costly corrections.
Want us to check this for you? Get a free review →Can I pay monthly?
Yes. Fees are paid monthly by Direct Debit, so the cost is spread across the year.
Want us to check this for you? Get a free review →What does it cost to switch accountants?
There is no charge to switch. We contact your previous accountant for the handover information. Catch-up work for missing years is quoted separately before we start.

Discuss this packageEmployment status is determined by the facts, not the package you choose. PAYE, umbrella and partnership arrangements may also apply. A limited company does not override IR35 or off-payroll rules, and not every employed clinician needs a tax return.
Overpaid tax?
Tax refund support for dentists
We review tax codes, eligible professional expenses and overpaid tax, then prepare a claim where you qualify. A refund is not guaranteed; HMRC decides the claim.
£249 + VAT
For refunds up to £5,000, our fee is £249 plus VAT. For refunds above £5,000, add 5% of only the amount above £5,000 to the £249 fee. VAT applies to the total professional fee.
Example: a £6,000 refund means £249 + £50 = £299 plus VAT.
Professional fee, excluding VAT
£249
This illustrates the fee only, not whether you qualify or how much HMRC will refund. We agree the claim scope and payment terms before work starts.
